WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT & RECEIVE FROM BEING A MEMBER?
Volunteering to put something back into the Community is why most people become a member of a Service club. As a member of the Optimist Club it is not required that you volunteer for all events, but only when your time allows. Your time is important, and you do not want to feel that it is being wasted or abused. The Youth and Community serving projects the club is involved in, gives a new member plenty of opportunity to become involved.
Raising funds for these projects is a concern of the organization and it is done in numerous ways. Giving of your time to help raise these funds is just as important as the community projects of the club.
The club has meetings on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month. These dinner meetings are designed for fellowship and education with speakers providing information on different topics and views. As with Service Projects and Fund Raising, these meetings are not mandatory, but
give you another venue to actively participate in the organization.
Being a member will also give you a chance to enhance leadership skills, by becoming involved as a chairman of one of the projects or by becoming an officer of the club. It is not mandatory that you become one of the leaders, because every organization still needs members to provide the help for all projects that are conducted. But every club still needs leaders to help the
organization develop and build for a better future.
The rewards and opportunities of being a member of any Service Club are endless. The Brookville Optimist Club members ask you to think about becoming an “Optimist” and help to promote and to encourage an active interest in the Youth and Civic Affairs of the Brookville Community.
